In a landmark decision, the Federal Council meeting on March 22, 2024, made a significant decision that will shape the history of Germany. By a clear vote, it was decided that the mediation committee will not be called, thereby paving the way for a partial legalization of cannabis in Germany from April 1, 2024.
We are making history today!
This groundbreaking decision marks a turning point in German drug policy and is the result of long-term efforts and persistent commitment by many activists, experts, and citizens who have advocated for a rational and evidence-based drug policy.
The semi-legalization of cannabis will have a significant impact on various aspects of society. It will not only curb the black market and weaken organized crime, but also ensure access to high-quality and controlled products. In addition, it will provide the opportunity to relieve resources in the criminal justice system and focus on preventive measures and support for people with addiction problems. But the most important thing is: people will no longer be criminalized for their consumption!!!!!!
It is a victory for reason, science and human rights.
On this special day, we would like to thank all those who have tirelessly fought for this change. Their persistence and dedication have paved the way for a better future, in which drug policy is based on empathy, reason, and the protection of citizens.
